Making Bedtime Special

Getting kids to bed can often feel like pulling teeth. But not if you work at making bedtime special.

Instead of ending the day by coaxing your kids into bed, why not come up with some fun bedtime rituals that they’ll look forward to? One mother made up a little lullaby that she calls “The Samuel Song,” and she sings it to her toddler every night. Sometimes he asks to go to bed early just to hear her sing it.

Another mother ends each day by helping her daughter write out the best things that happened to her. Not only is it a great bedtime ritual, but her daughter is creating a wonderful journal of her childhood.

Encourage and compliment your child, telling him how much you love him. Smiles and snuggles help your child value bedtime as one of the best parts of the day.

And putting bedtime in a positive light helps the whole family have a good night’s rest!
