A Desire to Aspire

Ever met a teenager just wired to achieve? Well, that doesn't happen by accident.

Ambitious teens usually come from households that put a high priority on goal setting.

One friend of mine used to encourage his toddlers to write out their stories and then draw pictures to go with them. He would print and bind them into little storybooks that they could read. This gave his youngest daughter a desire to write and today, at the age of 11, she's a published children's author.

Even young kids can set goals for themselves, and then experience the joy of accomplishment. A boy who loves to draw should be encouraged to practice every day, and to keep a portfolio of his drawings. A girl who excels at music should be given voice or piano lessons, and then encouraged to enter contests and recitals.

Kids instinctively want to learn new things, and by helping them achieve small dreams we're instilling in them a lifelong desire to aspire.
